Online applications for the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup are now open, so if you are a young rider with potential - or know of one - who was born between 1996 and 2000, it could be your time to shine.
Australian young gun Arthur Sissis is a former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup racer and now competes in Moto3, and is still only a teenager.
The new KTM 250 RBR bikes that will be used in 2013 are powered by a 249cc single-cylinder four-stroke DOHC engine that cranks out at 50hp (37kW) at 13,000rpm at its lowest power setting. The race bike weighs just 83kg dry and has an 11 litre fuel tank and runs WP suspension and Brembo brakes.
To sign up for the competition, head over to RedBullRookiesCup.com/join. Entries close on August 31, 2012.
Young riders will need to have "high performance motorcycle experience" and organisers will whittle down the field at a selection event.
"The best of the Applicants will be invited to a Selection Event later this year and from there a small number will be invited to join the Rookies Cup for 2013," reads the press statement.
All applicants much have a "mechanic helper" for all events and both rider and mechanic will have to cover travel and accommodation costs.
