All-new 2027 KTM 690 Rally revealed

The all-new adventure-ready 2027 KTM 690 Rally has been unveiled and is expected to arrive on Australian shores later this year.

Acting as a spiritual successor to the KTM 640 Adventure, the new 690 Rally brings long-distance travel capability to the brand’s proven LC4 platform.

Powered by the single-cylinder 58kW/73Nm LC4 engine, the new 690 Rally is based on the ever-popular 690 Enduro R but adds dual front fuel tanks and a rally tower that features a new 450 Rally-inspired headlight and provides more wind protection.

Notably, the additional components add just under 10kg of extra weight over the 690 Enduro R, with the 690 Rally listed at 161.5kg without fuel.

The new fuel tanks bolster the existing rear-mounted fuel tank and offer an extra 7L, bringing the total fuel capacity to 20L. The bike also has a Dakar-inspired fuel management system that allows riders to switch between the front and rear tanks via the switchblocks.

Also inspired by KTM’s rally-raid efforts is a tool kit mounted behind the right-side tank fairing, allowing for easy access without removing the seat or bodywork.

Outside of those changes, the 690 Rally uses the same formula as the current-generation 690 Enduro R. This means the same fully-adjustable WP XPLOR suspension, the same engine and the same general electronics package. The chromoly frame is also the same but utilises different mounting points to accommodate the new fuel tanks and rally tower.

The electronics utilise a 4.2-inch TFT display and feature multiple ride modes, switchable and cornering-optimised ABS and traction control, USB-C and 12V charge ports, and smartphone navigation. Rally mode is included as standard on the 690 Rally, while it remains an option on the 690 Enduro R. Cruise control can be added as an option.

KTM says the latest evolution of the LC4 platform offers oil change intervals of 15,000km and valve clearance checks at 30,000km, meaning the 690 Rally is ready for long-distance touring.

KTM Australia is yet to reveal pricing, but the Enduro R is currently listed at $21,195 ride away. The 690 Rally is likely to be priced higher.

The new KTM 690 Rally is expected to be available in Australia from December 2026, and all units will come with KTM’s premium four-year factory warranty.
