Royal Enfield expands Australian footprint with new mega store

Royal Enfield has officially opened its Australian flagship showroom, Moto Machine, in the heart of Greater Western Sydney, while hinting at an imminent new model

Royal Enfield’s Australian dealer network continues to expand, with the official opening of Moto Machine in Clyde, NSW. The Chennai-based company also revealed plans for a new model to be revealed in July.

The dealership, along with 56 others in Australia and New Zealand, comes alongside continually improving sales for Royal Enfield in the mid-size motorcycle market. As of 2024, Royal Enfield claims the title of best-selling mid-size motorcycle in New Zealand, and comfortably sits in the top 3 brands for mid-size motorcycles in Australia.

Moto Machine's opening comes after the closure of Royal Enfield's first Australian flagship store Mid Life Cycles in February.

The Moto Machine opening began with an address from the CEO of Royal Enfield, B. Govindarajan (known as BGR), who described Royal Enfield as a company which “helps more people get into the motorcycling culture” by creating “simple, elegant, gorgeous, uncomplicated motorcycles”.

BGR also acknowledged that, despite a market for high displacement motorcycles existing in Australia, Royal Enfield will continue to focus solely on the middleweight market.

During the presentations, Royal Enfield hinted at three new models to be released soon. Whilst the exact specifics remain a mystery, at least one motorcycle – rumoured to be the so-called Guerilla 450 scrambler – will be officially revealed in July.

The Guerilla 450 is likely to use the new water-cooled 450cc single cylinder ‘Sherpa’ engine, found in the Himalayan 450; a bike which has “taken the country by storm” according to Anuj Dua, Royal Enfield Business Head for APAC.

Urban Moto Imports (the Australian distributor for Royal Enfield) also addressed the crowd during the evening, with CEO Joseph Elasmar describing Moto Machine as “a jewel in the crown of Royal Enfield for both Australia and New Zealand”.

The expansive flagship store in Clyde has two floors of retail space for customers to explore. New motorcycle sales, servicing and parts will all be housed under the one roof. The dealership also offers “MIY - Make It Yours", a motorcycle after-sale service to accessorize newly purchased Royal Enfield models.

Moto Machine is located at Unit 1/10 James Ruse Dr, Clyde NSW 2142 and is open to the public from Monday to Saturday.
