Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has confirmed that Dani Pedrosa will ride for the team for the next two years, the Spaniard having signed a new contract at the Motorland Aragon MotoGP.
Thus far, Pedrosa has brought three World Championships and 35 Grand Prix victories across all classes and a 12 MotoGP wins thus far, including first place in the last two races.
With Casey Stoner already confirmed to make the jump to HRC in 2011, the team of Pedrosa and Stoner could be a very potent mix, but with rider changes to the Ducati and Yamaha teams, it will certainly need to be.
"I’m really happy to be signing with Honda again. This has been the team of my dreams since I was a kid and that’s still the same feeling I have now," said Pedrosa.
HRC president Tetsuo Suzuki also spoke very positively of the contract extension: "Dani is clearly at the peak of his powers and has gelled with the RC212V to create a formidable combination. We believe his relationship with the machine and the team will continue to grow and that he will mount an extremely strong challenge for the MotoGP World title over the next two seasons."
With Pedrosa signed on until the end of 2012, Spanish sponsor Repsol has also committed to another year of sponsorship with HRC, who are no doubt very happy to have a Spaniard on the team for another two seasons.
However one question remains for team HRC, and that revolves around the Adrea Dovizioso's position within the team. It's largely acknowledged that HRC doesn't have the funds to field a three man team, and it's entirely likely that Dovizioso will either be given the boot, or will be pushed sideways into a satellite Honda team, such as Gresini.
