Ducati Australia has announced it will expand its dealer footprint in Melbourne, with the opening of Ducati Melbourne West in January 2022 bringing the Italian brand’s total number of dealerships within the southern capital to three.
Located in Essendon Fields, adjacent to Essendon Airport, in Melbourne’s northwestern suburbs, the outlet will be owned Preston Motors Group (PMG), a car dealership business that can trace its roots back to 1912.

PMG has a number of prestige car brands under its umbrella including Porsche, which is a part of the broader Volkswagen Group that also owns Ducati. Ducati Melbourne West will be located at 295 Wirraway Road in Essendon Fields, which is currently the site of car dealership Volkswagen Essendon.
The location is situated within a major automotive hub, with numerous other car dealerships spanning Mitsubishi, Nissan, Hyundai, Ford, Mazda and Toyota all nearby, among others, along with PMG's own Polaris dealership.
Ducati Melbourne West will showcase the entire Ducati motorcycle range and offer full aftersales support, servicing, and a comprehensive range of Ducati apparel and accessories.
According to Sergi Canovas, Managing Director of Ducati Australia and New Zealand, the new outlet underlines the recently installed subsidiary’s promise to extend its network and increase support for Ducati fans across the nation.
“We are beyond proud to partner with PMG and bring its passion and expertise to the Ducati network,” he said.
“After a long association with Porsche, we are confident in PMG’s ability to deliver the passion, experience and expertise that reflects the global Ducati dealer network.
“With a large and passionate community of Ducatisti existing in Melbourne, we once again prove that we are committed to seeing the community continue to grow with the addition of a key state-of-the-art dealership.”
The sentiments were echoed by PMG’s CEO, Robert Gattereder.
“We are excited to add another premium and prestige brand to our stable and look forward to exceeding customer expectations,” he said.
“As a passionate motorcylist, I am thrilled to introduce motorcycles to our organisation and I very much look forward to enjoying the passion that exists within the Ducati family and community. Our aim is to make it a flagship site in Victoria and a destination for Ducatisti.
Ducati Melbourne West will join existing Melbourne metropolitan dealerships Fraser Motorcycles Melbourne, located in South Melbourne, and Mornington Motorcycles, in Mornington.
