Ducati has expanded its single-cylinder Hypermotard range with the introduction of the Hypermotard 698 Mono Nera, a new variant featuring a blacked-out colour scheme and a handful of upgraded components.
European dealerships are expecting the new model in June 2026, but prospective Australian customers will have to wait a little longer. Ducati Australia states on its website that the Nera model is "anticipated to be available in 2027".
Australian pricing will start from $24,825 ride away, which places it between the standard version ($24,125 ride away) and the up-spec RVE version ($25,425 ride away).
The Nera is essentially a cosmetic and equipment update to the existing 698 Mono, distinguished by a predominantly black livery with red highlights on the wheels and trellis frame. Ducati has also fitted homologated Termignoni silencers as standard, along with its up-and-down quickshifter.

Mechanically, the Nera is unchanged. Power comes from the company’s Superquadro Mono — a high-revving, 659cc single-cylinder engine derived from the 1299 Panigale’s V-twin architecture. Ducati claims 77.5hp at 10,250rpm, positioning the Hypermotard among the most powerful road-legal single-cylinder machines currently on the market.
The chassis package mirrors that of the base model, with a trellis frame, lightweight cast wheels, 151kg ready-to-ride weight (without fuel), and fully adjustable suspension including a progressive-link rear shock.
Electronics remain a key selling point. Cornering ABS with a dedicated supermoto-style “Slide-by-brake” setting, traction control, wheelie control, engine-brake control and launch control all carry over. Ducati says the systems are designed to make supermoto-style riding more approachable, even for less experienced riders.
Owners who opt for the track-only Termignoni racing exhaust can also unlock an additional “Wheelie Assist” function that modulates torque to help hold controlled wheelstands on circuit — a feature unlikely to have road-going relevance in Australia.
As with other Ducati models, the Nera can be tailored via a catalogue of performance accessories, cosmetic upgrades and apparel. The brand also promotes its DRE Road training program in Europe, where the Hypermotard range is included in instructional courses.
