Honda is on the cusp of releasing its smallest capacity motorcycle equipped with ABS, the XRE300 trailbike.
The good news is that Honda seems keen to deploy ABS on a wide range of bikes spanning different engine classes.
The bad news is that you can only get the XRE300 in Brazil.
Tipping the scales at 151kg, the ABS-equipped XRE300 belts out 25hp from its 291cc air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine.
Without the ABS the Honda XRE300 weighs 144kg, a seven kilogram weight saving, but surely the extra mass will be worth it when you're hammering down Sao Paolo's outer suburban dirt roads, with several crims chasing you down for reasons beyond your comprehension. Hit the front anchors hard and the front end has less of a chance to wash out.
With ABS finding its way onto the XRE300, it's could be only a matter of time before the VTR250 and other popular small capacity models gets the braking safety equipment.
