A recall has been issued for the 2010 Honda VT750CS motorcycle sold nationally. The recall only affects 95 motorcycles around Australia and the recall is due to the possible failure of the back angle sensor caused by road and/or engine vibrations.
The official statement is, "Failure of the Back Angle Sensor, due to vibration, can cause the engine to shut down while riding."
If a shut down occurs whilst the cycle is in operation there is potential for the rider to lose control of the motorcycle which could result in an accident, which could injure the rider as well as citizens around them.
The 'defects' part of the recall report states, "Due to the unique vibrations on this particular model, failure of the resonance occurs which has been affecting the back angle sensor. This can cause the entire engine to shut down which cannot be restarted unless the ignition switch has been turned off and back on."
Honda has sent out letters to the owners of the affected motorcycles and they are obligated to take their motorcycles to the nearest Honda dealer. The dealers will modify the bike, replacing the back angle sensor at no cost to owner.
