Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso regularly rides at the pointy end of the field in one of the world's most popular motorsports championships, the MotoGP, and as such he knows how to get the most out of a motorcycle.
In Red Bull's latest cornering 101 video, the Italian rider can be seen tracing his way through a bend in super slow motion. Dovi also talks about several aspects of racing an insanely powerful and ridiculously light prototype four-stroke race bike, from getting the perfect start to lining up the bike for cornering.
But the real meat is found in the footage, which has been shot on a special camera and film that records at 1000 frames per second.
The result is astounding, and it's interesting to compare it to Casey Stoner's 1000fps cornering video, which shows the Australian fighting the Honda RC212V race bike a lot more. You can actually see the Honda's body work flexing and shimmying as the bike attempts to remain planted.
Dovizioso meanwhile seems to just glide through his corner in slow motion, with nary a shudder or bump as the bike goes through the motions. This difference in riding style is fascinating when viewed in super slow motion and we're hoping that other teams begin experimenting with this technology, which would no doubt provide excellent feedback for team engineers.
The video makes is viewable in high definition 1080p, and we recommended viewing it in this mode - it's mesmerising!
