Motorcyclist caught texting

A photo of a Sydney motorcyclist texting while riding his Ducati Monster motorcycle has gone global. Was he casting a vote for The Voice?

For years now the authorities have been pushing the message of how dangerous texting can be while operating a car.

Some studies suggest it's on a similar level to being drunk while behind the wheel, such is the level of distraction is provides.

Though it seems hard to believe, manually texting while riding a motorcycle does happen, as this photo shows - aired by Australian current affairs program Today Tonight.

The rider has taken both his hands off the controls and is focussed entirely on his phone.

The Sydney rider was photographed by the passenger of a bus while travelling on the M2 motorway, travelling at speeds of around 80km/h.

According to reports the 21-year-old rider of the bike handed himself into police after the photo gained international notoriety.

The rider was allegedly on his L-plates (learner) which have now been revoked.

Is texting while riding the most dangerous thing you've ever seen occur on the road? Leave your thoughts in the comments section underneath the video.
