Moto Morini rebuilds
The Italian motorcycle maker will resume production in early 2012, with an all-new concept bike mooted to break cover mid yearItalian motorcycle maker Moto Morini has experienced a tumultuous fea years but finally appears to be getting back in the saddle with production to recommence in January 2012.
After attempting to woo buyers for a few million euro, the company (or part thereof) was eventually sold for €1.96 million and to cut a long story short, the company will fire up its manufacturing plant in early 2012.
Whether Moto Morini will flourish or flounder remains to be seen. At this stage it's unknown whether the company's new owners, Eagle Bike, will inject big bucks into the operation to facilitate a revitalization of sorts, a la MV Agusta and its new 675cc product initiative.
Reports suggest that Eagle Bike may have invested capital back into the operation, as the company has confirmed that four existing models will begin manufacture in early 2012 - Corsaro 1200, Granpasso, Scrambler and 9 ½ - but a fifth concept is also being developed for production mid-year.
No word on what the new concept model is, but it would certainly have the potential to generate a buzz for the company. Watch this space…
Though are a handful of Moto Morini bikes in Australia, the Italian company does not have an official importer in this country at present. That could change if demand increases and the company's fortunes improve.
