
What is arguably BMW's first serious off-road motorcycle, the G 450 X, will be released from September 20 at a price of $12,450 plus ORC.
The machine has been under development for some time and has been run in several competitions, including the world enduro champs where it managed some respectable results.
It also made an appearance at the most recent Australian Four-Day Enduro, where former world champ Joel Smets put it through its paces.
The 449.5 cc engine claims a peak of 38 kW (52 hp) at 9000 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 7800 rpm.
