BMW Motorrad is in power-flexing mode at EICMA, thanks to the limited-edition M 1000 RS.
Billed by the company as the world’s most powerful hyper naked bike, the M 1000 RS delivers a white-knuckle output of 162.6kW (218hp) in a package weighing a lithe 196kg.
If explosive performance is your caper, they are certainly a beautiful set of numbers – and once the power- and torque-to-weight ratios are crunched, it all makes even more sense.

In the case of the former, the M 1000 RS has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.1hp per kilogram, as cutting-edge superbike technology meets an upright, direct riding position.
The ‘RS’ stands for Rennsport, a designation which has a rich history at BMW Motorrad, dating back to the RS 255 Kompressor in 1935.
The M 1000 RS now takes this tradition into an uncompromising new dimension, limited to just 1000 units worldwide.

The technical basis for the M 1000 RS is the M 1000 R with the M Competition Package, but with extra sharpening tools: a full titanium exhaust system and matt carbon M winglets with RS lettering, while the transfer of technology from the M 1000 RR superbike is clearly visible in the matt carbon components, brushed aluminium fuel tank, new graphics and M seat with RS embroidery.
There’s no word at this stage on how many units will be available for Australian customers.
