The all-new BMW F 450 R is headed for Australia in 2027 with the brand's local arm confirming specification and pricing.
While an exact arrival date is yet to be announced, the new learner-approved F 450 R naked bike will be offered in three variants from $10,290 (before on-road costs).
The F 450 R joins the incoming F 450 GS in BMW’s 450cc model family, sharing its newly developed parallel-twin engine but with chassis and engine tuning tailored for road riding.

Power comes from a 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin producing 35kW (48hp) at 8750rpm and 43Nm at 6750rpm. BMW claims 80 per cent of peak torque is available from 3000rpm, while fuel consumption is rated at 3.8L/100km.
A 14-litre fuel tank is claimed to provide more than 350km of range, and the motorcycle has a ready-to-ride weight of 175kg.
The F 450 R uses a tubular steel frame with the engine serving as a load-bearing component, alongside a 43mm KYB upside-down front fork and an aluminium rear swingarm. The front suspension gains adjustable compression and rebound damping on models equipped with the optional Sport Suspension package, while the rear shock has adjustable preload and rebound damping.

Braking is handled by a 310mm front disc with a four-piston Brembo calliper and a 240mm rear disc. ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Traction Control and engine drag torque control are standard, along with Rain, Road and Dynamic riding modes.
All variants also receive heated grips, LED lighting and a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and navigation functionality.
The range starts with the standard F 450 R in Cosmic Black, priced at $10,290 (before on-road costs). The F 450 R Exclusive costs $10,790 (before on-road costs) and adds Shift Assistant Pro, which enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts, as well as Sport Suspension.

Topping the range is the F 450 R M Sport ERC at $11,490 (before on-road costs), finished in Snaefell White with M Motorsport graphics. It adds Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, Sport Suspension and BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC).
The Easy Ride Clutch automatically engages according to engine speed, allowing riders to pull away and change gears without manually operating the clutch lever. The lever remains available for rider input when required.
The M Sport ERC’s Riding Modes Pro package also adds the configurable Dynamic Pro riding mode and additional display screens with information including lean angle, braking force and traction control intervention.
The F 450 R has a 790mm seat height as standard, with optional seats available to raise or lower the seating position. Other features include a reversible gearshift pattern for track use and a USB-C charging port.
