2027 Suzuki SV-7GX crossover confirmed for Australia

Suzuki has revealed the new SV-7GX, a midweight crossover motorcycle based around the company’s 645cc V-twin engine, with Australian sales scheduled to begin in January 2027.

The SV-7GX combines the engine and chassis platform used by Suzuki’s established SV650 with a more upright riding position, touring-focused equipment and styling influenced by the larger GSX-S1000GX.

Power comes from a 645cc liquid-cooled, 90-degree DOHC V-twin, with the full-power version producing a claimed 54kW at 8500rpm and 64Nm at 6800rpm.

The engine is paired with a six-speed transmission and ride-by-wire throttle, allowing Suzuki to equip the SV-7GX with a range of electronic rider aids.

These include Suzuki’s Intelligent Ride System, three riding modes through the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, and three levels of traction control plus an off setting. A bi-directional quickshifter is also fitted as standard.

A LAMS-approved version will be offered in Australia, although Suzuki is yet to confirm its power and torque figures.

The SV-7GX uses a steel trellis frame with 41mm telescopic front forks and a preload-adjustable rear shock. Braking is handled by twin front discs with four-piston Tokico calipers, along with a single rear disc.

The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Pirelli Angel GT II sport-touring tyres, measuring 120/70 at the front and 160/60 at the rear.

Suzuki has given the SV-7GX a 17.4-litre fuel tank, with the company estimating a range of up to 400km. Wet weight is listed at 211kg, while seat height is 795mm and ground clearance is 135mm.

Touring equipment includes a three-position adjustable windscreen, integrated rear carrier, standard knuckle covers and rider and passenger seating designed for longer-distance riding.

The SV-7GX also features a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display and Suzuki Ride Connect+ smartphone connectivity, providing access to turn-by-turn navigation, notifications, weather updates and ride information. A USB-C charging port is also fitted.

An SV-7GX+ version will be available for riders seeking additional touring equipment. It adds a fuel tank pad, heated grips, soft side cases and brackets, along with a touring windscreen.

Australian pricing starts at $14,990 ride-away for both the full-power SV-7GX and SV-7GX LAMS.

The SV-7GX+ is priced from $16,490 ride-away.

The full-power SV-7GX and SV-7GX+ will be available in Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Triton Blue or Glass Sparkle Black, while the LAMS version will be offered in Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Triton Blue or Pearl Matte Greige.

Suzuki says Australian deliveries are scheduled to commence from January 2027.
