The Yamaha XT1200Z, or the Super Tenere as it's more commonly known, is generating a lot of buzz. Especially in the UK.
There is so much interest in the new model in Old Blighty that Yamaha is setting up a website specifically for UK riders to reserve their bike.
Furthermore, a special edition Super Tenere will go on sale first in the British Isles, before the regular model, packed with almost every conceivable accessory one would care to think up. It's kind of like the BMW 1200 GS Adventure.
This 'special edition' model will get unique decals and will be priced much higher than standard models and will be packaged with accessories not expected to be released until 2011.
However when the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere will goes on sale in Australia in June, it will be offered as is, with no special edition bikes or Internet reservation malarkey.
"There are no plans to dress it up and sell it a higher price," Yamaha Motor Australia spokesperson Sean Hawker told the Bikesales Network. "It'll just be going out to dealers and if buyers want, they can get all the accessories afterward."
The accessories that will be part of the 'special edition' sold in the UK, and the same items that will make their way here, include things like panniers, wind deflectors, LED indicators and heated handlebar grips.
Here's a list of some of the stuff you'll be able kit out the Super Tenere with:
- Taller screen
- Twin fog light kit
