Vespa goes retro with LX125

The metal-bodied machine runs an air-cooled four-stroke powerplant from parent company Piaggio, which meets Euro 3 emission standards.
Among the unique styling features are a rectangular headlight, tail-light, dash, cut-down guards and white piping for the seat.
"With fuel prices rising rapidly, choosing Vespa doesn't need to be explained to anyone," said Simon Gloyne, Vespa Brand Manager.
"The added bonus is that it is also a lifestyle choice. Easy to park, quick through stationary car traffic and fun to boot. Riding a Vespa morning and night is a real little escape from the everyday grind."
The 10.3hp powerplant runs the usual stepless auto transmission, while the machine weighs a claimed 110 kilos, carries 8.6 litres of fuel and has a top speed of 91km/h. Seat height is 785mm.
Its accessory list is extensive, including a windscreen, topbox, luggage rack and, unusually, three different graphics kits on the themes of flowers, Europe and sport.
In May, we can expect a two-stroke 50cc version, priced at $3990 plus ORC.
