If you lived in a post-apocalyptic alternate reality where humans and vampires had been warring for hundreds of years, what would you ride?
A Ducati Diavel? Too exotic.
What about a Yamaha YZF-R1? Too extreme.
Perhaps a Suzuki Trojan? Hmmm... Getting warmer.
According to new Hollywood film Priest, in which Paul Bettany plays a highly skilled vampire slaying priest in search of his kidnapped niece, the ride of choice would be a Suzuki Gladius. Albeit with a few tweaks.
The Suzuki SFV650 Gladius was chosen by Cinema Vehicle Services and Ghostlight Industries when they were contracted to build a futuristic vampire killing motorcycle designed to cross desert flats.
As you can see from the photos however, Ghostlight Industries stretched the wheelbase significantly, adding a custom rear swingarm but also a very trick-looking front end, making use of a cantilever inspired rig.
With most of the front and rear end suspension rigs completely replaced, the futuristic Priest bike is still ridable and according to one of the bike's fabricators, Cyril O'Neil, the bike was a massive challenge to work out.
It had to look as though it was powered by a jet engine, while having a low stance, which meant the fuel tank had to be moved underneath the seat.
Once the bike's mechanicals were sorted, it was then covered in techno cladding to make it look as though it was designed in the future, and features a high tech instrument panel and lots of LEDs to complete the image.
Meanwhile the director of the film, Scott Stewart, explained what they were aiming for with the bike. "There was sort of an idea that the Priest bike was like the weapons that are being handed to an elite force... we wanted these bikes to feel like you're sitting on a jet engine."
Mission accomplished? You be the judge.
