Hinckley's newly named 2300cc beast gets more power, more torque and ABS for 2010Powering up for 2010, Triumph has released early details on its updated Rocket model, now called the Rocket III Roadster.
Developing more torque, more power, and now fitted with ABS as standard, Triumph's beastly 2300cc street machine is the British brand’s most comprehensively revised 2010 model motorcycle.
The new 2.3-litre Rocket III Roadster model will go on sale in Australia from February 2010, but the local importer has yet to put a price on the model.
A new riding position marks changes to the ergonomics and seat set up of the Rocket III Roadster, which will be more than welcome considering the bike weighs just over 300kg.
While power has been boosted thanks to various engine tweaks, including fettled twin camshafts (which are also claimed to deliver a better engine note), Triumph is keeping the exact power output to itself for the time being.
However the Hinckley-based motorcycle company has revealed that torque has risen 15 per cent to around 224Nm of twist, which should give the new Rocket optimum rolling burnout capabilities.
As well as the engine tweaks, ergo changes and ABS, the ‘Ultimate muscle streetfighter’ – to use Triumph’s words – gets new rear suspension which should improve ride quality.
New colour schemes also differentiate the 2010 model from its predecessor, with Phantom Black or Matt Black. Add forks, shocks and yoke finished in black and you've got yourself one very mean machine.
Pricing is expected to be in the ballpark of the current Rocket III, which retails for $22,990. The Roadster is scheduled to go on sale in the first quarter of 2010.
