Top five off-road bike reviews of 2021

Motorcycles sales have boomed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and the off-road segment has proved to be the biggest winner.

Whether you prefer motocross or enduro riding, there are options aplenty when it comes to choosing a new dirt bike. Here are our top-five off-road reviews for 2021:

1. Husqvarna TE 300i

The humble two-stroke has come a long way in recent years and some say modern fuel-injected two-smokers are closer to four-strokes than ever before. Is that a good thing? Our review of the latest Husky TE 300i looks to answer that question.

2. Yamaha WR450F

This classic enduro model has been transformed several times over the years, but the latest version might just be the most competitive yet. It maintains that ever-popular WR enduro spirit, but gets a big dose of YZ motocross madness for 2021. The WR450F was a 2021 bikesales BOTY Finalist.

3. Honda CRF250R

We didn’t get the opportunity to test many motocross bikes in 2021, but we sure are glad we got to test this one. Using the same platform as machines used by Jett and Hunter Lawrence, the new Honda CRF250R is a pure weapon on the motocross track.

4. GasGas EC Launch

When KTM took over the GasGas brand, many feared that the bikes would simply become ‘red KTMs’, but, while that was the case to some extent, GasGas has also forged its own unique brand identity aimed at beginners, weekend warriors and pros alike. And we think it has nailed it.

5. KTM 890 Adventure R

I know what you’re thinking – this is an adventure bike, not a dirt bike. But, after a three-day launch in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, I walked away looking at the 890 Adventure R more like an enduro bike on steroids. Seriously, it’s that good.
