Superhero Harleys strike a pose

Aussie and New Zealand Harley-Davidson dealers have teamed up to produce a stunning range of Marvel superhero-themed customs
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Captain America’s first appearance in a Marvel comic, and to mark the milestone a number of Australian and New Zealand Harley-Davidson dealerships have created a superb range of Marvel-character-themed custom bikes.
The full line-up will be displayed at the upcoming Oz Comic Con in Sydney (September 10 and 11).
The bikes range from a Thor-inspired Softail Breakout to a Groot-themed Street Glide Special and a Black Widow Iron 883. Each of the bikes is on display at its respective dealer and the Captain America bike – another Street Glide Special (pictured), this time produced by Harley-Davidson Australia & New Zealand head office – is on show at the Myers department store in Pitt Street, Sydney, until September 5. However, the only place to catch the entire collection in the one place will be at the Oz Comic Con.
Harley-Davidson spokesperson David Turney says there are many parallels between the Marvel characters and the essence of riding a Harley.
“The spirit of freedom is alive and thriving in the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special,” he says.
“Like Captain America, it leads from the front with strength, power and endurance, enabling you to venture to new worlds and beyond.
“We customised the Captain America Street Glide Special to inspire Harley-Davidson dealers across Australia and New Zealand to create their own Marvel-character-inspired custom motorcycle using the wider H-D range. The results have been phenomenal. A true combination of super powers, with over 16 Marvel characters represented.”

Harley-Davidson and Marvel fans have been asked to vote for their favourite bike by visiting www.h-dmarvelcustoms.com. Doing so also places them in the draw to win a Harley-Davidson and Marvel holiday to Hollywood and Las Vegas.
