When cashed-up Hollywood celebrities want a special custom bike, many of them turn to Californian spanner man Roland Sands, as Mickey Rourke did for his Harley.
Taking a relatively common Harley-Davidson cruiser, Roland Sands worked personally with Rourke to create the Loki, which has been two years in the making.
"Mickey wasn't in a big hurry for this bike, so unless we have a deadline we don’t ever finish anything," says Roland Sands.
"He was very involved in the build, very intimate in what he wanted and didn’t want. A lot of it had to do with the crazy finishes. He wanted black and gold on everything."
The video below provides an intimate look at the process that goes on at Roland Sands Design workshop in the USA, and the result is a black and gold sportster complete with a single-sided swingarm, along with lovingly bent, short-cut pipes and an aggressive rear fender that hints at the bikes performance.
The fuel tank and general attention to detail is proof of why RSD is one of the most sought-after custom shops on the planet.
Rourke said the bike was named after his Chihuahua of 18 years, Loki, and wants to use the bike in an upcoming movie. The film star said he was "Very happy" with the end result.
He wouldn’t say what the bike was worth, only noting that "It's worth every penny - whatever it cost". Roland Sand's good mate Jamie Robinson got the first ride on the bike - check it out in the video.
