Hot on the heels of the recent release of the CFMOTO 450SR, a LAMS-friendly sportsbike, comes a trio of new CFMOTO models due to touch down in Australia in the not-too-distant future.
The next new CFMOTO model to reach Aussie showrooms will be the CFMOTO 800NK, a naked streetfighter model that was initially shown in concept form as the ‘NK-C22’ at a show in China late last year.
Powered by a KTM-sourced 799cc parallel-twin, the CFMOTO 800NK looks set to ruffle some feathers in the popular middleweight nakedbike category, which has been hotting up recently with the likes of the new Honda CB750 Hornet and Suzuki GSX-8S.
While it remains to be seen if features like the aerodynamic alloy wheels, single-sided swingarm, vertically stacked exhausts, and radial-mount, twin-disc front brakes of the concept machine will make it through to the production model, we can get an idea of the new model’s performance as the same engine is currently employed in the CFMOTO 800MT adventure bike.
In that guise the unit pumps out 95hp (70kW) and 77Nm, but more aggressive cam profiles and a tweaked ECU could well see those figures bumped up. In any case, the 800NK will be the new naked flagship for the Chinese brand and is likely to be launched with some sharp pricing, as has been the company’s strength as it expands its footprint in markets around the globe.
CFMOTO Australia says we can expect to see the new CFMOTO 800NK in Australian showrooms sometime in the third quarter of this year.
Want a streetfighter that’s a little more manageable? Perhaps the new CFMOTO 450NK will fit the bill. Slotting in below the existing 650NK but above the 150NK and 300NK, the LAMS-compliant 450NK will be based upon the new CFMOTO 450SR.
No technical details have yet been released for the new model – no details of any kind, for that matter – but CFMOTO Australia has indicated the newcomer is indeed set to go on sale in Australia at some stage in the second half of 2023.
Chances are the bike will be mechanically identical to the sportsbike but stripped of its bodywork, possibly with some tweaks to its ergonomics courtesy of a flatter handlebar and repositioned footpegs, giving a more upright, relaxed stance.
And then we come to the CFMOTO 700MT, a road-going adventure-sport model, which essentially represents a progression of the existing CFMOTO 650MT.
The new model retains the same ethos and design philosophy but is said to benefit from the 693cc parallel-twin found across the brand’s 700 CL-X models (the 700 CL-X Heritage, 700 CL-X Adventure, and 700 CL-X Sport), with 73hp and 68Nm. Other noteworthy features include the move to a 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument display, the inclusion of two USB charging ports, and full LED lighting.
CFMOTO Australia has confirmed the new CFMOTO 700MT will also go on sale in Australia in the second half of 2023, with pricing information and full details for all three models to be announced closer to their local launch.
