MV Agusta is furthering its push into the e-mobility space with the launch of a new electric scooter.

Dubbed the Rapido Serie Oro, the scoot is the latest in “a line of stylish, high-performing electric vehicles aimed at the growing crowds of sophisticated urban dwellers looking for a safer and more enjoyable way to commute and move around the city on a daily basis”.
MV says the scooter draws its inspiration from the company’s high-end ‘Serie Oro’ (Gold Series) motorcycles, and features a black/gold/red livery and a premium specification.

Features include a magnesium alloy frame, 10-inch tubeless front and rear ‘fat’ tyres, dual hydraulic disc brakes, and a 48-volt 500-watt brushless electric motor that produces up to 24Nm torque.
The scooter is said to have a range of up to 50km and a top speed of nearly 40km/h, although the latter is limited to 25km/h in EU countries.
It has four ride modes (Pedestrian, Eco, Comfort and Sport+), a 4-inch LCD instrument display, and Bluetooth connectivity, along with a partner smartphone app.

“We use the same care and attention that traditionally go into our legendary motorcycles in the hand-crafting of our electric bicycles and scooters,” said Ratmir Sardarov, Head of MV Agusta Group e-mobility division.
“The new company’s architecture was specifically designed to foster an open process of mutual sharing of competencies at all levels of production and across the two companies, from design to shopfloor assembly.
“The quality and the level of performance of our e-mobility vehicles are the same as we achieve in our traditional production of motorcycles. In that sense we can truly say that MV Agusta is also all about the Art of E-Mobility.”

The Rapido Serie Oro will is on sale in Europe for Euro 999 (approximately A$1560). That means prospective MV Owners have a difficult choice: buy one $59,990 Superveloce Ago, or 38 Rapido e-scooters…
There’s no word yet on whether it will be available here in Australia; we’ll keep you posted.
