MV Agusta B3 Brutale coming soon

Reinvigorated Italian motorcycle maker MV Agusta will launch a three-cylinder 675cc version of its Brutale naked bike later in the year

See that photo to right of this page? Imagine that bike, an MV Agusta F4 Brutale S, with three exhaust pipes instead of two and you'll be seeing a vaguely similar picture to what European dealers have allegedly been looking at.

The most affordable model in the MV Agusta range has been shown to a handful of dealers and some industry insiders in Europe, the sneak peek of the upcoming 675cc triple cylinder MV Agusta 'B3' Brutale occuring ahead of its expected global debut in November at EICMA in Italy.

Prototypes of the new 'baby' MV Agusta Brutale are believed to be in the final stages of testing and the bikes could be on sale in Europe not long after EICMA wraps up later in the year.

The exotic middleweight naked bike can be expected to arrive in Australia during the first half of 2012 and reports tell of a high-spec 'Oro' version being offered, kitted out with Ohlins suspension and a few extra bits of eye candy (though whether this model makes the journey to Australia remains to be seen).

The new B3 Brutale will be powered by a detuned version of the MV Agusta F3's 675cc triple, and will output somewhere around the 120hp (88kW) mark, but with a flatter torque curve to suit the motorcycle's streetfighter attitude.

MV Agusta's highly-anticipated naked bike will compete against motorcycles such as the Triumph Street Triple and Ducati Monster and will retain much of the DNA that provides its larger litre-class siblings with plenty of agility. Will it be best in class? We'll have to wait and see.

As MV Agusta has recently re-established its presence in Australia, the B3 Brutale is a given for this market, and it will be the most affordable model in the Italian marque's range, possibly priced from less than $15,000. The Brutale 1078 RR is currently priced $17,800, so expect a price at least $3000 lower.

The fitment of ABS will be offered on the new MV Agusta B3 Brutale (and is expected to be offered across the range by 2012) and in tandem with the F3, the new B3 could herald a successful new era for the company if it can entice riders into dealerships.

Full details of the new Italian naked bike will be revealed closer to the Milan motorcycle expo (EICMA) in November.
