MV Agusta will have a new local distributor by the end of 2023, with KTM Australia taking the reins from Urban Moto Imports.
The iconic Italian brand has fallen under the watch of Melbourne-based Urban Moto for nearly a decade, however that will change in September when KTM Australia assumes distribution, marketing, and customer service.
KTM will set up a new dealer network for the brand, but Urban Moto will oversee the transition from the existing network through to September.
“We are looking forward to bringing the KTM Group professionalism and service to the MV Agusta dealerships and customers,” said KTM Australia Managing Director, Jan Nobis. “This is an extremely exciting and special brand, one that fits very well into our House of Brands approach.”
The change comes as the partnership between MV Agusta and Pierer Mobility AG (KTM’s parent company) continues to take shape. Pierer currently owns a 25.1 per cent stake in MV Agusta.
Pierer Mobility AG already has majority stakes in Husqvarna, GasGas, and WP Suspension, and also has a strategic partnership with Chinese manufacturer, CFMOTO. It’s partnership with MV Agusta does not currently include manufacturing.
For Urban Moto Imports, which is the Australian distributor for Royal Enfield, Benelli, Reiju, Super Soco, Peugeot Motorcycles, Segway, and Torrot, it is the end of an era. But the Australian company is looking at the change in a positive light.
“The global partnership between PIERER Mobility and MV Agusta is an exciting step forward for the Italian brand,” said Urban Moto Imports CEO, Joseph Elasmar. “It opens up more doors for MV Agusta in terms of access to components, improved supply chain, and exciting product development.
“We have enjoyed our time with MV Agusta, as it fit within our company’s mantra of uncompromised motorcycle individuality and we wish the brand all the best for the future.”
