Honda has pulled the covers off a new electric motorcycle, but don’t expect it to land in Australian dealerships any time soon.
The all-new Honda E-VO electric model boasts café racer styling and will come in both two-battery and three-battery configurations. The latter version has a 6.2kWh capacity and a 15.8kW motor, giving it a claimed 170km of riding range and estimate top speed of 120km/h.
It also features clever technology including a dual TFT instrument cluster with connectivity, mobile phone storage, front and rear cameras, and DJI action camera capability. It also has keyless ignition and fast-charging ability, with a best-case charging time of 1.5hrs for 20-80 per cent.
But the new bike is a product of Wuyang-Honda and is currently only slated for the China. Wuyang-Honda is a joint venture between Honda and China’s Guangzhou Motors Group Company.
The bike does feature subtle Honda branding, but it is being marketed as a “Wuyang-Honda” model and is built in Guangzhou for the Chinese market.
It's possible Honda will produce the E-VO for other markets in the near future but, for now at least, it will be exclusive to China.
