The Ducati Monster is turning 30 and the Bologna-based firm has celebrated by revealing a special anniversary edition of the popular naked bike.
Dubbed the Monster 30 Anniversario, the model will be limited to just 500 units worldwide, with each one displaying a unique numbered plate.
A special 30 Anniversario Tricolore livery is the most obvious change, but the bike also features a number of other high-spec additions including gold-coloured rims made especially for this model and a gold-coloured Öhlins NIX30 fork.
There is also a dedicated dashboard animation when the bike is switched on, and a sport rider seat shape with a special Anniversario logo.
But it’s not all aesthetics – the 30 Anniversario Monster also includes some performance upgrades, starting with a lighter kerb weight of 184kg. The weight loss has been achieved even despite the addition of extra components like a steering damper and windshield. The fully adjustable Öhlins suspension is also lighter and has been refined, as have the Brembo Stylema brakes. The anniversary bike also has Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, a Termignoni slip-on pipe, and carbon bodywork as standard.
The 30 Anniversario Monster features all the same electronics as the standard Monster including a 4.3-inch TFT display, ride modes, cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control, but adds launch control and a lithium battery.
Under the hood is the same liquid-cooled four-valve twin-cylinder Testastretta engine with desmodromic timing that powers the standard Monster. It produces 111hp (81.6kW) and has 15,000km intervals for oil changes and 30,000km intervals for valve clearance checks.
The original Monster was introduced in 1993 and Ducati has produced more than 350,000 units since. The bike has undergone a few updates in its lifetime, with the most recent coming in 2021. That update included the addition of the 937 Testastretta engine.
