Harley-Davidson has released its 2008 models, which should start arriving here in September. Two new models are included in the series, while there are some significant upgrades across the range.
First-up is the new Fat Bob (shown in blue), which is a low-slung custom-styled machine from the Dyna range. Its distinctive features include twin headlights up front, plus a massive - for Harley - 180 section rear tyre.
Following on from the custom theme is the Softail series Rocker (shown in red) and Rocker C. They go even further than the Fat Bob with huge 240 section rear hoops and a lot of work from the styling folk to make the most of the 'hardtail' look. The C model incorporates a fold-out pillion seat that normally hides under the rider saddle.
Significant among the upgrades is the first-ever ABS system for H-D, which will be available on upmarket Electra Glide and Road King models.
Meanwhile the company's liquid-cooled V-Rod series scores a performance boost, with the inclusion of a 1250cc version of the engine, claiming a healthy 125 horses and 85ft-lbs of torque.
There are also numerous detailed upgrades on offer, such as 22.7 litre tanks on touring models, plus Brembo brakes and accessory cruise control. Or you could opt for the new CVO series of high performance powerplants, available for several models.
