While Harley-Davidson is kicking up its heels in its 120th anniversary year, the Harley Owners Group, better known as H.O.G., is also marking a milestone.
This year is the 40th anniversary for what its devotees call, “the greatest motorcycling club in the world”, and Harley-Davidson Australia has paid tribute to the achievement by commissioning the build of a stunning one-off custom.
Billed the HOG40, the Low Rider ST tribute bike was designed by Custom Digital in South Australia and built by Adelaide Harley-Davidson Bike Works.
Today (August 4) the bike begins a whirlwind tour of select Harley-Davidson dealerships in New South Wales and Victoria, as part of the build-up towards the 2023 National HOG Rally that will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park at Tailem Bend, SA, over September 22-24.
The HOG40 bike will be on display at the following locations:
New South Wales
Harley Heaven Sydney – August 4
Fraser Motorcycles Concord – August 7
Sy’s Harley-Davidson – August 9
Victoria
Morgan & Wacker Epping – August 15
Harley Heaven Melbourne – August 16
Harley-Heaven Dandenong – August 17
The Harley Owners Group brings together passionate Harley-Davidson owners from all around the world. Offering group rides, events, exclusive merchandise, and much more, the organisation has grown to encompass over 1400 H.O.G. chapters worldwide.
“There’s a line on the bike that symbolises the connection between riders and the Motor Company,” said Harley-Davidson ANZ Managing Director, Nigel Keogh.
“Our HOG40 build is a commemorative salute to all our amazing customers who put in the miles on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles. It represents 40 years of celebration for the largest riding group in the world and was designed to reflect the legacy from 1983 with a single H-D orange line leading to the future.”
According to H.O.G member, Lee Dean, the anniversary represents a time to reflect on everything the club stands for and the bond its members share, all around the world.
“It’s important to celebrate 40 years of HOG,” he said. “There’s 40 years of tradition there to celebrate and there are some great stories and great history involved in it. It’s important to acknowledge that.”
