CFMOTO has unveiled a wild new rally-inspired adventure concept at EICMA, with the MT-X highlighting the innovative approach the Chinese manufacturer is currently taking.
The CFMOTO MT-X CONCEPT is likely based on the 800MT adventure tourer, but it completely rewrites the script with a 21-inch front wheel, high ground clearance, muscular rally-like bodywork, a flat seat, and a slim tail-end hinting at improved off-road ability.
A vertical 8-inch TFT screen is attached to rally-style navigation tower, while the fuel tank is positioned lower on the bike to improve balance and the riding experience.
Also featured is a modern LED headlight, floating side wings, and a eye-catching graphics kit inspired by the brand’s Moto3 bikes.
A closer inspection of the photos also reveals an Akrapovic pipe, Brembo brakes, and high-spec KYB and Ohlins suspension, while the unique switchblock hints at some clever electronic features.
The bike also has spoked wheels clad in adventure-style tyres and is protected by a bash plate, disc guards, and a high front fender. It also has removable rubber footpeg inserts.
CFMOTO hasn’t provide much more detail, leaving media and punters to guess what powerplant forms the basis of the concept model. Images suggest it could be the KTM LC8 parallel-twin that powers the 800MT, but it remains a mystery for now.
It is unclear if the MT-X CONCEPT will progress to a production model, but if CFMOTO’s recent form is anything to go by, then it likely will.
The Chinese powerhouse also revealed a rally-ready 450MT model at EICMA, which is powered by the brand’s 449cc parallel-twin engine. That bike is expected to arrive in Aussie dealerships the second quarter of 2024.
