EICMA: Brough Superior wows in Milan

Historic Brit brand unveils track-only superbike and a traditionally styled roadster

AMB 001 Pro track superbike

Following on from the success of Brough Superior’s Aston Martin-branded superbike, the AMB 100, the British firm has used EICMA to unveil a track-only version of the 997cc machine which is said to be good for 225hp (168kW).

Inspired by Aston Martin's Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar, the bike is limited to a production run of just 88 units, while the AMB 001 Pro track superbike adopts an 88-degree V-twin engine mounted in a CNC-machined aluminium chassis.

The crankcases are machined from a single piece of aluminium. The swingarm is also a CNC-machined unit, as is the Fior-type aluminium fork, with a fully adjustable monoshock handling damping duties at both ends.

The lairy bodywork is made out of carbon fibre, as are the lightweight 10-spoke wheels, and it all adds up to featherweight result that tips the scales at a claimed 175kg (dry).

Aston Martin Australia said it’s currently accepting pre-orders, although there’s no word yet on what will surely be an eye-watering price…

Brough Superior Dagger

Brough Superior also released a new roadster at this year’s motorcycle show in Milan in the form of the 1000cc twin-cylinder Dagger. Named after the knife Lawrence of Arabia wore on his belt, the Dagger gets a boost to both power and torque over its similarly engined Lawrence stablemate, while still achieving Euro 5 compliance.

The dagger rolls on a pair of 17-inch wheels, compared the Lawrence’s 19-inch front and 17-inch rear – a first for the brand in its modern iteration.
