Ducati has recorded a slight increase in motorcycle sale through the first quarter of 2022 compared to the previous year. It comes as FCAI figures show new motorcycle sales in Australia have decreased by 10.7 per cent.
The Italian company delivered 13,450 units worldwide through the first three months of the year, representing a 5 per cent increase in comparison to the same timeframe in 2021. It also shows a 40 per cent increase compared to 2020.
Of the motorcycles sold, the Ducati Multistrada V4 family proved to be most popular once again, with 2456 units moved, while the Ducati Monster (1868 units) and Ducati Scrambler 800 (1557 units) also sold well.

Italy took back the mantle of being Ducati’s main market, after the USA topped the charts in 2021. A total of 2544 bikes were delivered in the brand’s homeland, while Germany (1382 units) and France (1153 units) followed close behind.
France in particular showed impressive growth with a 29 per cent increase compared to 2021. The UK delivered 860 motorcycles for a 46 per cent increase, while Brazil improved by 21 per cent with 241 units sold.
The Bologna firm’s strong form is made even more impressive considering it faces the same supply chain issues causing havoc throughout the motorcycle industry.
“Delays in supply chains are unfortunately affecting our ability to deliver bikes on schedule and we apologise to our passionate customers for this,” said Ducati’s Francesco Milicia. “We can guarantee that the company is making every effort to reduce this inconvenience.”
Customers are still putting money down despite the delays, with Milicia saying that “Ducati’s order portfolio at the end of the quarter is up by 83% over the same period of 2021”.
