Ducati Hypermotard custom

This Italian supermoto has been given a serious fettling, borrowing parts from the Yamaha MT-03 and Honda CRF to deliver a unique outcome

The Bikesales Network tested the Ducati Hypermotard twice in 2010, once in Italy and once in Australia, and it proved itself on both occasions as a true all-rounder.

But what would happen if the Hypermotard was tweaked... A lot?

This would happen, a motorcycle that was originally crashed with just a few hundred kilometres on the clock, then snapped up for cheap by one Michel Vis who brought in McDougall Racing & Fabrication to create a subframe, tank and exhaust.

As the photos show, the stubby rear end is a lot different to the standard model, and custom plumbing for the exhaust is another visual highlight. The hand-made exhaust system ends with a Competition Werkes Yamaha R6 pipe, and the seat is from a Honda CRF.

Running gear comprises carbon fibre BST rims and Öhlins forks, and other bits and bobs include a massive 190 profile rear tyre, the headlight section from a Yamaha MT-03, plus Rizoma rearsets and Kellerman indicators.

All told, it's an appealing take on the Ducati Hypermotard and will no doubt provide inspiration for backyard tuners to make their own custom supermotos.
