TPG took over Ducati in 1996 and helped it to expand considerably while floating it on the stockmarket. The sale is subject to approval by Ducati’s banks and comes on the tail of a third-quarter loss for the firm, despite an increase in sales volume.
Meanwhile the firm has set up a mini website for the Hypermotard concept bike, revealed recently at the Milan show. The machine runs a version of the air-cooled 1000cc twin-sark engine, with a slipper clutch. It looks production-ready, but the firm is still canvassing public opinion on the idea. See www.ducati.com.
