DP Custom Cycles Look Right

Take an 1982 Harley-Davidson ironhead 1000 V-twin engine, add a modified frame with a hard tail and a clean, pared back image and you might end up with something like this, the Look Right.

The name sounds a little odd, but F1 fans may see the connection. In 2004 the BAR Honda F1 race cars had Lucky Strike cigarette advertising, but several countries had banned tobacco promotion and as such the team had to change the wording from Lucky Strike to Look Right.

Showing off an F1 inspired motif, the bike was put together by DP Custom Cycles, an American outfit based in Arizona.

The almost 30-year-old ironhead engine has been reconditioned and fitted with Keihin CV carbs while a custom-bent exhaust system with plenty of mandatory heat wrap gives the bike a strong voice.

The hardtail design bucks the trend of dark murdered out designs, and after the frame was modified and chemically stripped, it was finished in the same white as the tank.

The chain-driven motorcycle features plenty of bespoke parts created by DP Custom Cycles, such as the seat mounts, oil tank and battery box, with the proviso being for a tidy finish.

The seat was supplied by an aftermarket company (Biltwell) and together with a handcrafted rear fender, and matching powdercoated 19-inch front and 16-inch rear spoke wheels, the Look Right is likely to provide its owner with plenty of attention as it cruises by.

Brake lines, fuel lines and even the switches have been replaced and DP Custom Designs says that the Look Right is no pretender, claiming solid performance both in a straight line and through corners. Pirelli tyres, an assertive riding posture and a ground low ride height also contribute.
