Domino’s Pizza has partnered with an Australian electric moped company to help make pizza delivery more sustainable.
The pizza giant has been trialling the Benzina Zero Duo electric moped at a number of its Australian stores, but has now formalised the partnership and will roll the mopeds out across its network of over 900 stores in Australian and New Zealand.
Benzina Zero (Italian for Zero Petrol) makes a crust by distributing electric scooters and mopeds in Australia. The Queensland company launched its range of models in 2022, with the Duo checking in at $4650 plus on road costs.
Featuring a Bosch electric motor, a floor-level battery, 12-inch wheels, front and rear disc brakes, a USB charging port, and LED lighting, the Duo is the perfect companion for food delivery riders and is the equivalent of a 50cc scooter.
Joe D’Ercole, Chief Battery Charger at Benzina Zero, is thrilled to get a slice of the action in the sustainable pizza game.
“We are thrilled to work with Domino’s by assisting them to achieve their goals for last mile sustainability,” said D’Ercole. “We look forward to supporting Domino’s here and internationally where possible.”
The partnership will also contribute to Benzina Zero’s 1m2 Project, which is an Australian-based land regeneration program that uses money from every Benzina Zero product sold to help revive degraded land in Australia and give it back to nature.
Domino’s is equally excited about the opportunity to help play its part in reversing the global environmental crisis.
“By utilising Benzina Zero’s Duo electric moped, we are not only able to deliver our pizza more sustainably, but we are also able to provide additional efficiencies and cost reductions to our franchisees,” said Earle Strong from Domino’s supply company. “We started this journey around three years ago and we now have the solution. We are excited to work closely with Benzina Zero.
The partnership is a much-kneaded win for both companies, with the demand for environmentally-sustainable mobility options rapidly growing.
Okay, we promise there will be no more cheesy pizza puns.
