A custom Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is turning heads after the Cerra GT 865 was unveiled at Mid Life Cycles in Melbourne.
Built by Skunk Machine owner Carl Cerra, the Cerra GT 865 is a complete re-imagining of Royal Enfield’s popular café racer machine. Cerra is set to build just 25 examples of the bike, with orders already flowing in quickly.

According to a Royal Enfield press release, the inspiration behind the Cerra GT 865 was to create a retro 80’s-inspired TT-style race bike with a proper full fairing.
But rather than just an aesthetic makeover, the Cerra GT 865 takes the Continental GT 650 to a new level, with Hallam Cycle Works transforming the engine into an 865cc machine.
The overhauled engine is 30kg lighter and offers more horsepower, while a Revelry Cycles throttle body helps complement the engine’s performance.
At the front end, Cerra has added a custom-designed CNC-machined triple clamp to accommodate a set of 2015 GSX-R fork tubes, while braking is handled by Brembo components. The bike also features dual custom-made stainless steel header pipes with SC Project slip-ons.
Perhaps the most intriguing addition, however, is MotoGadget electronics, that replaces mirrors with a unique rear-view camera that feeds into the handlebar-mounted display.
Melbourne-based Carl Cerra has an automotive design background and has worked for leading automotive brands across a 20 year period. His Skunk Machine business offers design and production services for both two and four wheels.
Royal Enfield is planning to release a series of videos that takes viewers through the design and build process of the Cerra GT 865.
