Only 1500 examples of the 200hp, four cylinder 989cc machine were built, with all being purchased before production even began. The unit on sale here is No. 0606. Tom Cruise reportedly got his hands on No. 0001.

With a price tag north of $100,000 at the time, only 120 units were allocated for Australia, and they were all snapped up quickly. The model is now considered a modern classic and is one of the brands most collectable models. This example is in pristine condition and is expected to fetch $65,000-$75,000.

1997 Ducati 916 Senna II

Also on offer is a 1997 Ducati 916 Senna II, which has just 11km on the odometer and is like brand-new. It is No.92 of 300 units. The model was built to commemorate the late F1 champion, Ayrton Senna. The bike is expected to fetch $45,000-$55,000.

1986 Ducati Mike Hailwood 1000cc replica

A 1986 Ducati Mike Hailwood 1000cc replica will also be auctioned. It is from the final year of production of the model, which was introduced in 1984 as a replacement for the 900cc Mike Hailwood Replica. It is in original condition and one of just 1100 units. It’s expected to sell for $30,000-$38,000.
