Chad Reed leaves Kawasaki

Will the Aussie champ be riding a KTM in the upcoming Super X starting in October?

The two-time SX champion has parted ways with Kawasaki, in what is being called an amicable split by both sides.

Kawasaki has issued a formal statement, wishing the Australian the best for the future:

"Monster Energy Kawasaki would like to thank Chad Reed for being a part of our team for the 2010 AMA Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM Championship and the Lucas Oil AMA Motocross Series.

"Reed was a valuable member of our program scoring one win and multiple podium finishes aboard his Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours."

Now that he's parted ways with Kawasaki, the intrigue centres on which bike he'll ride in the upcoming Australasian Supercross Championship (Super X). Rumours out of the U.S. suggest that Reed is poised to sign with KTM in 2011, but whether this deal or in fact any others will be formalised before the start of Super X remains to be seen.

The seven-round Super X kicks off on October 16 in Newcastle, and finishes up on December 4 in Brisbane. Visit Superx.com.au for more details.
