The news is in - supercross maestro Chad Reed will be riding a Honda CRF450R in the opening round of the 2010 Australasian Championship in Newcastle.
The multiple world supercross champion revealed that it had been a tough year, after having succumbed to illness - the Epstein Barr Virus. Reed said that "...although it's not ideal to be racing at this point I would not miss the chance to be able to race in front of a home crowd with my family, friends and fans in the stands. This will be a really special time for me, I can't wait to compete in front of a Novacastrian crowd again."
After ending his relationship with Kawasaki, the 28-year-old Australian supercross champ has chosen to ride with the TeamVodafone branded Honda at his home track. But it remains to be seen whether he will ride the Honda for all seven rounds of the Super X title.
In a statement issued today, Honda Australia said it would be backing Reed's championship crusade with technical support courtesy of well known technician and Honda training guru Philip "Pip" Harrison. "It's all just come together recently, so I'll be going up to Newcastle straight away to build a bike for Chad, run a quick test session and then go racing," said Harrison.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of this new team and am looking forward to getting back into the thick of racing for this series," enthused Harrison.
