CFMOTO to debut 450CL-C cruiser this month

The new CFMOTO 450 CL-C cruiser will likely debut later in 2023

CFMOTO has confirmed that a new cruiser model powered by a 449cc parallel-twin engine is on its way, with the bike set to be officially unveiled in China this month.

In a short teaser video, the Chinese manufacturer gave a sneak peek at the new 450 CL-C, which takes the shape of a retro-style cruiser and will rival the likes of the Honda CMX500 and the Kawasaki Eliminator.

Concepts of the bike were quietly on display alongside a customized version at the Motor China expo earlier this year, but the production version is expected to be revealed sometime this month.

According to information from CFMOTO, the CL-C designation stands for "classic cruiser", with the bike featuring a blend of "retro style with modern sophistication".

There will be a two-seat version and a single-seat version available, while the single-seat bobber version is a custom bike based on the production model.

CFMOTO's local distributor told bikesales that the bike is "likely" to come to Australia.

While there are no official specs yet, it is believed by some eagle-eyed sources that the 450 CL-C will use a bored-out version of the 400NK parallel-twin motor, rather than the powerplant found in the recent 450SR sportsbike.

The CL designation follows the 700 CL-X neo-retro naked bike models that were released in 2022, and the CL-C does appear to use similar retro styling cues. Heritage seems to be a big part of the design, with the video revealing a badge that acknowledges CFMOTO’s beginnings in 1989.

In the past 12 months, CFMOTO has celebrated the release of the CL-X models, the 800MT adventure tourer, and the 450SR sportsbike, and has also revealed a swag of upcoming models including the anticipated 800NK, the 450NK, and the 700MT.

The Chinese firm has also revealed an updated version of its 1250TR-G sportstourer, with that machine currently under market evaluation for an Australian debut.
