Beta has added a 350 two-stroke model to its motocross lineup for 2026, sparking hope amongst enthusiasts about a resurgence in big 2T models.
The all-new Beta RX 350 2T was first teased at EICMA in 2024, but the Italian firm today made it official as it presented the full 2026 RX range.
Powered by a 351cc carburetted two-stroke engine, the new RX 350 2T replaces the RX 300 2T and is designed to combine the simplicity and agility of a two-stroke with the linear power delivery of a four-stroke.
It features a dual-spark head for smooth combustion, a purpose-built power valve system, and optimised crankshaft and piston configurations, with Beta saying it delivers “robust power at any speed while remaining manageable and fun to ride”.
Also new for 2026 is the RX 250 2T, while the existing RX 450 4T has been updated with a new cylinder head with performance enhancing piston, a new intake manifold, and a different exhaust system – all designed to bring it closer to the brand’s factory race bikes competing in AMA Supercross/Pro Motocross and MXGP.
All three bikes benefit from new graphics and radiators, while existing features such as KYB suspension, Nissin brakes and Galfer discs, Xtrig Flexfit handlebars, electric start, non o-ring chains, and switchable engine maps all return for 2026. The RX 450 4T also comes with four levels of traction control.
The addition of the RX 350 2T is unusual, with Beta describing it as a “never before seen configuration”. In recent years, most two-stroke models have not exceeded 300cc, while KTM has pioneered fuel-injected two-stroke engines.
But a carburetted 350cc two-stroke will feel like something of a throwback to the days of big two-stroke dirt bike engines, and give some hope to those praying for the return of the famed 500cc two-stroke segment.
Beta Australia says pricing is still to be determined, but the bikes are expected to land on local shores by October this year.
