Off-road specialist Ossa has taken the wraps off its new flagship trials bike, the 2013 TR280i, which features wholesale changes to the chassis and gearbox.
Most clearly the Spanish motorcycle maker has changed the paint job for 2013, but has tweaked the rear Ohlins shock and added a new bottoming cone, whose shape is more robust. The suspension linkages are new steel shafts which are bolted instead of attached by elastic rings.
The front Marzocchi forks have been recalibrated to offer smoother transitions and are claimed to deliver "better feeling" says Ossa, and the seat base and rear fender have been redesigned too.
Power levels have risen thanks to a new fuel injection map, which is designed to make power delivery more progressive, and a new compressed cylinder head and air filter also contribute.
Along with a new chain tensor spring, designed to be stronger, updates to the gearbox and clutch are claimed to improve precision and provide better tolerance to abuse.
Ossa says there are fewer sharp edges in the gearbox, which also goes through material and hardening treatment to improve durability, while a new clutch has been integrated for "better and softer feel".
Ossa says the updates are designed to improve the bike which has previously competed in the FIM Trials World Championship, and to better rival bikes from Beta, Gas Gas, Montesa Honda, and Sherco.
