Italian marque MV Agusta has whipped the covers off the 2013 Brutale naked bike range, simplifying the range of four-cylinder bikes from six models to just three.
It appears that the Brutale 920 model has been dropped in favour of down-sized four-cylinder line-up, with just three 1090 versions which will sit above the new three-cylinder 675cc entry-level Brutale naked bikes.
Powered by 1078cc in-line four-cylinder engines, the new MV Agusta Brutale range comprises the following:
Far less confusing than the previous range of four-cylinder Brutales, all three models feature a new wheels, new exhausts, new front fenders, new brake lights, and daytime running lights have been integrated above the headlight too.
The bikes' sizes and dimensions are unchanged from 2012 and an eight-level adjustable traction control system is a key feature. The tubular steel trellis section frame with aluminium plates holds everything together as previously.
The base model Brutale's 1078cc four-banger belts out 144hp (106kW) and 112Nm, has 50mm adjustable front forks for rebound and preload, plus 310mm front disc brakes with four-pot calipers.
Brutale R models cost a bit more, get the same mechanical package but add elaborate paintwork and the indicators move to the mirrors, making it slight more aerodynamic.
Step up to the range-topping MV Agusta Brutale RR and you get a more powerful version of engine 1078cc four-stroke engine, which revs much higher, outputting 158hp (116kW) at 11,900, compared to the other model's peak engine speed of 10,300. However there is a trade off - torque drops from 112Nm in the bogger and R models to 100Nm.
The Brutale RR is also slightly longer, with an 8mm extension to the wheelbased, gets bigger, better brakes, 320 front discs with Brembo monobloc calipers, and has a few more adjustable options for the suspension, namely high and low speed hydraulic compression damping.
MV Agusta's 2013 model Brutale RR naked bike benefits from a six-speed, constant mesh "cassette style removable gearbox" says the Italian bike maker, paired with a multi-plate clutch slipper clutch.
The new Brutale range of bikes will be shown at the Milan motorcycle show -- EICMA -- in November 2012 alongside what is expected to make a lot of noise: the Rivale enduro/supermoto concept bike, powered by the MV Agusta's all-new 800cc three-cylinder engine.
