The Vespa World Days for 2011 was held at Gjøvik in Norway, an annual event that sees huge gatherings of the Vespa scooterati for one purpose - to celebrate the scooter brand's versatility.
Held in Portugal in 2010, the annual event usually sees tens of thousands of the Vespa faithful converge on the nominated town, this time Gjøvik, where fans can mingle, ride and generally talk about Vespa scooters well into the wee hours.
From what we can gather, the event also hosts a number of scooter stunts, from riding through rings of burning rags to balancing as many people as is humanly possible on just one vintage Vespa shod with heavy duty suspension and tyres.
The four day event took place between May 19 and 22, and as the video below shows, was an absolute delight for the gathered Vespa faithful.
According to reports, the 2011 Vespa World Days saw more than 120 Vespa clubs from around the world attend the event, with representatives from 20 different countries participating in what is arguably the biggest scooter festival of the year in Europe.
Originally called Eurovespa, the event has been running since 1954, only eight years after the first Vespa scooter was built in Italy. The name change to Vespa World Days occurred in 2007 when the Vespa World Club was formed by Piaggio (which owns Vespa), whose charge is to "promote, unite and co-ordinate all the Vespa clubs in the world", presumably to the betterment of scooterkind.
After meetings among the National Vespa Clubs and the official Vespa World Club, the 2012 event has been decided upon and will take place in the United Kingdom, though dates are still being nailed down.
