Zero Motorcycles are no longer available in Australia, with the Melbourne-based importer of the e-bikes confirming the state of play to the Bikesales Network.
We first rode a Zero in June, 2009, and since then a number of new road and off-road models have been released, which has made the Santa Cruz-based Zero one of the world’s biggest e-bike manufacturers.
But Australia has been a tough market to crack, and alarm bells started ringing when the 2011 range of Zeros failed to make it downunder, which has carried over into 2012 – although rumoured production delays in America meant that we probably wouldn’t have seen those updated 2012 models until late in the year anyway.
But that’s now a moot point, but all existing local Zero customers will continue to receive full service back-up from Zero Motorcycles Australia.
Keep an eye on www.zeromotorcycles.com/au/ for any updates on Zero making a comeback in Australia, either through the former importer or a new enterprise.
