Zero adds two new models

A ramped-up dualsport machine as well as an oft-mentioned supermoto model. There's also faster charging and even more performance from the Z-Force powertrain

American e-bike company Zero Motorcycles has expanded its line-up to six models in 2016 with the addition of a souped-up dualsport model (the DSR) as well as a supermoto bike (FXS).

The supermoto bike creates adds another 'fun' layer, and has been an oft-asked question of the company over recent years. The machine has Zero's 44hp/95Nm motor, which is claimed to propel the machine from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds. There are two models: one with a lower-spec battery pack (with a kerb weight of 114kg) and the other at nearly double the capacity (133kg).

The 17-inch wheels have Pirelli Diablo rubber, and the suspension is Showa with plenty of hoon-seeking travel: 178mm at the front and 227mm at the rear. Bosch anti-lock braking is standard.
The DSR is described as "an amped-up version of the Zero DS", and certainly the performance part of the claim rings true: it's got the same powerhouse 67hp/144NM motor as the SR road bike, which we have review on Bikesales. That's 56 percent more torque and 25 percent more power than the standard DS.

Local availability and pricing for the 2016 models is yet to be announced.
