Twelve year old Honda rider Sarah Stubbs has taken out the recent round 4 of the Honda Girls on the Gas motocross competition at the weekend.
With the majority of Victoria in a rather soggy state due to heavy rain throughout, the Bacchus Marsh circuit just west of Melbourne was quite the opposite and proved to be a challenge in itself with slick, hard pack conditions.
The cold and windy weather didn't deter Stubbs from taking her first victory in the competition after the two years prior deemed her ineligible to score points due to her age.
"I'm really happy but a little bit shocked," said winner Sarah Stubbs.
"I had a really big crash through the whoops early in the day and thought that the run could be a problem but it turned out ok."
It certainly did turn out ok with Sarah not only doing well but winning the shuttle run beep test, while also tying for first with Outrim rider Burgan Svenson in the Public Speaking module.
Another solid victory in the 'On Bike' technique combined with a close second to Burgan Svenson in the lap time sector saw Stubbs finish on top of the points by the narrowest of margins. When the final points were tallied there was only one point separating Stubbs from Svenson.
"Sarah is a great young rider," said Svenson.
"We are from the same club at Outrim and get to ride together quite a bit. I had a ball participating in the clinic and it's fun competing with the other girls."
The competition next heads to the Newcastle region in late September for Round 5. (Source: Honda)
