Yamaha has added a sporty 300cc scooter to its scooter line-up with the XMAX 300 falling into rank alongside the firm’s original TMAX maxi-scooter.
Using a 292cc Euro liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine in a TMAX-inspired package, the firm has created a big-bike feel with the efficiency of a small-capacity scooter.

Between the exhaust management and clever real-time 3D mapping which controls both the volume of fuel and the ignition mapping, the new machine meets Euro 4 regulations, though there’s no word on either power or torque capabilities.
It gets power to the ground via the firm’s V-belt automatic transmission, electronic rider aids include traction control and ABS and it uses a keyless ignition system.
According to Yamaha, it boasts enough underseat storage to accomodate two full-face helmets and adopts a modern adopts twin-eye LED headlight with a central high-beam.
It has an accessible seat height of 795mm, tips the scales at 179kg (wet) and it’s available now for a price of $6999 (plus ORC) in either Quasar Bronze, Lunar Grey colour schemes.
